Tajikistan and China Forge Over 50 Agreements Exceeding $8 Billion
Tajikistan and China have signed over 50 cooperation agreements totaling more than $8 billion, enhancing investment prospects. This collaboration highlights Tajikistan's strategic reforms and its role as a key partner for Chinese investments, particularly in infrastructure and energy sectors.
On May 11, Tajikistan and China formalized over 50 agreements, expected to attract more than $8 billion in investments. President Emomali Rahmon highlighted that Chinese investments in Tajikistan have approached $6 billion, with $3.5 billion in direct investments.
Approximately $7 billion in foreign investment was secured last year, with China contributing 12.5%. The new investment law aims to bolster legal protections and streamline administrative processes. Tajikistan's hydropower potential and mineral resources were emphasized as key investment areas.
The development of logistics centers and modernization in sectors such as agriculture and tourism were also prioritized. The signing of these agreements could significantly enhance economic ties and infrastructure development in the region.
