Tanzania Allocates Sh216 Billion for Second Phase of Shinyanga Solar Power Project

The Tanzanian government has allocated Sh216 billion for the second phase of the Shinyanga Solar Power Project. The first phase is nearing completion at 95.5% and has been connected to the national grid, generating 50 megawatts.

The second phase will add 100 megawatts, bringing total capacity to 150 megawatts. The project is designed to enhance electricity distribution in the Lake Zone and support various economic activities. Preparations for the second phase are underway, with the project manager confirming over 80,000 solar panels in the first phase.
