Tanzania Under Magufuli: Infrastructure and Economic Growth Achievements
President John Magufuli's administration in Tanzania has significantly advanced infrastructure and economic development since 2015. Key initiatives include free education, transportation upgrades, and increased foreign investment, positioning Tanzania as a regional economic hub.

Since taking office in 2015, President John Magufuli has implemented major infrastructure projects, including the construction of 2,439 kilometers of upgraded roads and the development of a 2,190 km electric railway system. The transport sector saw the introduction of 11 Bombardier aircraft and a new terminal at Julius Nyerere International Airport, enhancing capacity to six million passengers annually.
Furthermore, Tanzania's rural electrification reached over 74%, surpassing Nigeria, with significant investments in natural gas and renewable energy. The country's FDI inflow reached $1.1 billion in 2019, marking it as one of Africa's top investment destinations.
Despite projected economic slowdowns, sectors like construction are expected to grow, supported by robust tax revenue collection and a strong fiscal position. Continued focus on infrastructure and industrialization suggests Tanzania is poised for further economic transformation.
