Tata Sons Chairman Inspects India's First Private Defence MRO for C-130J Aircraft
Tata Sons is establishing India's first private Defence Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility for the C-130J aircraft, set to be operational by December 2026. This strategic move emphasizes the company's commitment to enhancing national security capabilities through indigenous innovation in defence manufacturing.

The new Defence MRO facility, developed by Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) near Bengaluru, will cover 15,000 square metres on 16 acres and employ over 250 personnel. Scheduled to be commissioned by December 2026, it will focus on heavy maintenance and avionics upgrades for the Lockheed Martin C-130J transport aircraft.
During his visit, N Chandrasekaran also examined TASL's UAV operations, land mobility platforms, and an Advanced Armoured Platform created with DRDO. The company has supplied over 4,000 multi-axle high-mobility platforms to international clients, including the Royal Moroccan Army. This initiative may significantly bolster India's defence capabilities and industrial self-sufficiency.
