Telefónica has established a 5G Cyber Defense Center in Spain, collaborating with the Spanish Ministry of Defense and integrating into NATO's Digital Foundry. The center aims to support military operations with advanced 5G technologies.
Telefónica has successfully deployed 5G tactical bubbles across air, sea, land, space, and cyberspace, including the first airborne 5G system on a military aircraft at Albacete Air Base. This initiative follows a pilot project involving NATO's Standing Naval Forces, where a 5G node was deployed on a ship, enhancing secure communications without public networks. The advancements were showcased at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
