Telesat Government Solutions Secures U.S. Missile Defense Agency SHIELD Contract
DEFENSE
Telesat Government Solutions has secured a position on the U.S. Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) $1.51 billion SHIELD contract, part of the Golden Dome missile defense strategy. The Indefinite-Delivery/Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract allows MDA to streamline procurement over ten years. Telesat's upcoming Lightspeed Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation will provide high-speed communications in military settings, offering low latency and network assurance critical for tracking hypersonic and ballistic threats, thus validating its LEO architecture as a viable alternative to traditional satellites.
