Temporary Helipad Under Construction in Mohali for VIP Movement Amid Conflicting Requests
A temporary helipad is under construction in Mohali's Phase 8 at a cost of ₹50 lakh to facilitate VIP movement, despite conflicting reports regarding the request from the deputy commissioner's office. The helipad, set to be completed by January 13 and located near a VIP guest house, will be secured with barbed wire and requires Indian Air Force approval for operations due to its proximity to the airport.

A temporary helipad is being constructed in Mohali's Phase 8 at a cost of approximately ₹50 lakh to facilitate VIP movement, as confirmed by the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA). The construction was reportedly requested by the deputy commissioner's office, which has denied making such a request.
The helipad will be located on a GMADA plot near a VIP guest house frequently used by Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal. The work has been contracted to a private company and is expected to be completed by January 13.
GMADA officials stated that the helipad will be strictly for VIP use and secured with barbed wire fencing. Additionally, approval from the Indian Air Force is required for helicopter operations, given the proximity to Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport.
