Tenaska Proposes Natural Gas Plant in Ohio Valley with $1 Billion Economic Impact
Tenaska plans to construct a natural gas power plant in Jefferson County, potentially generating 1,700 megawatts for 1.7 million homes. The project could yield $1 billion in economic benefits, including job creation and tax revenue.

Tenaska has announced a proposed natural gas power plant in Jefferson County, Ohio, as part of its Tri-State Energy Hub project. The facility aims to produce up to 1,700 megawatts of electricity, sufficient to power approximately 1.7 million homes.
The initiative will incorporate carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies, with an estimated economic impact of $1 billion for the region. Construction is projected to start post-2028, with operational plans set for 2032 or 2033.
The project could create hundreds of construction jobs and approximately 20-30 permanent positions. Local officials express optimism regarding job creation and economic revitalization following the loss of a previous power plant.
