Texas A&M University to Host U.S. Army's Hypersonic Weapons Test Center
The Texas A&M University System board of regents has approved $79.3 million for the Bush Combat Development Center, a hypersonic weapons test facility for U.S. Army Futures Command. The project, which includes a kilometer-long enclosed tube for testing, is supported by $50 million from Texas and $65 million from the Army.
Located on the RELLIS campus near Austin, Texas, the center will feature laboratories, runways, and ranges designed for experimentation and data analysis. This initiative aims to enhance collaboration with the local tech community and attract defense contractors to Central Texas, aligning with Army Futures Command's mission to develop advanced military technology.
