Governor Greg Abbott has announced over $26 million in grants for infrastructure projects in Texas military communities via the Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant program. The funding will enhance military facilities and protect jobs in communities affected by potential future Base Realignment and Closure decisions.
This first round of FY 2026-2027 grants includes allocations for various military installations, such as $5 million for the Red River Army Depot and $4 million for Fort Bliss. Since 2015, the DEAAG program has awarded over $172 million to support Texas military communities.
