Texas Railroad Commission Conducts Winter Weatherization Inspections for Natural Gas Supply
The Railroad Commission of Texas is conducting weatherization inspections of critical natural gas facilities to ensure adequate supply during winter 2025. In FY25, the Critical Infrastructure Division conducted over 7,400 inspections and has started the FY26 Extreme Cold Inspection Schedule, inspecting 100% of Tier One facilities, which produce over 5 million cubic feet of gas daily.
The division also hosted a tabletop exercise for operators focusing on inspection readiness and emergency management. As of November 30, 2025, Texas reported approximately 524.9 billion cubic feet of natural gas in underground storage, the highest in 25 years. The RRC's inspections will continue through March 2026.
