Texas educational authorities are exploring a drone system from Campus Guardian Angel aimed at preventing school shootings, with a proposed cost of $8 per student per month. The drones are designed to distract and incapacitate potential attackers using blinding lights and loud sirens, while also being capable of delivering non-lethal projectiles and medical supplies.
Remote pilots operate the drones from a Tactical Operations Command Center, ensuring a rapid response in emergencies. The drones were tested during winter vacations with law enforcement and emergency personnel involvement.
Bill King, a U.S. Navy veteran, serves as Chief Tactical Officer, applying military expertise to enhance school security. The initiative may improve safety measures in educational institutions amidst ongoing concerns over school shootings.
