Texas Space Commission Grants $9.27M to Expand USSF Space Domain Awareness Lab at UT Austin
The Texas Space Commission (TSC) is expanding the USSF Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Tools, Applications, and Processing Lab with a $9.27 million grant to the University of Texas at Austin. This partnership aims to enhance national defense capabilities by integrating emerging technologies, fostering collaboration among industry and academia, and establishing an operational hub in Austin. The project will commence in late Spring 2026 and is expected to be fully operational by December 2026.

The Texas Space Commission, in partnership with the U.S. Space Force, is expanding the Space Domain Awareness Tools, Applications, and Processing Lab with a $9.27 million grant to UT Austin. This initiative aims to create an operational hub for national defense capabilities by integrating emerging technologies and facilitating research on complex security challenges.
The lab will support operator training and secure infrastructure for SDA innovation, enabling 180 technology teams to prototype solutions. The project will launch in late Spring 2026 and is expected to be operational by December 2026, aligning with the USSF’s Commercial Space Strategy.
