Textron Systems Invests $5.8 Million to Expand Louisiana Defense Operations
Textron Systems Corp. is investing $5.8 million to enhance its defense manufacturing and shipbuilding operations in Southeast Louisiana. This expansion is projected to create 133 direct jobs and generate a total employment impact of approximately 356 positions in the region.

Textron Systems Corp. will invest $5.8 million to expand its operations across three existing facilities in Southeast Louisiana, specifically in St. Tammany and Orleans parishes. The initiative aims to produce advanced military vehicles and naval systems, creating 133 direct jobs and an estimated 223 indirect jobs, resulting in a potential total of 356 jobs.
Construction will begin in 2026 at the Gause Boulevard facility in Slidell, with phased development continuing through 2027. The investment includes $5.3 million for the Gause Boulevard site and $500,000 for the Stone Road site.
In Orleans Parish, the expansion will create 22 additional jobs at the shipyard in New Orleans. Louisiana has provided a $600,000 performance-based grant to support this initiative, reinforcing the state’s role in defense manufacturing.
