Thailand Launches 26th Petroleum Bidding Round for Andaman Sea Exploration
Thailand's Department of Mineral Fuels initiates applications for exploration rights in the Andaman Sea, covering over 60,000 sq km.

The 26th petroleum bidding round in Thailand targets exploration block A1/68, which covers more than 60,000 square kilometers beyond the 12-nautical-mile territorial limit. This area includes three sedimentary basins: Mergui, North Sumatra, and East Andaman, with preliminary surveys indicating potential petroleum reserves, particularly in the Mergui and North Sumatra Basins.
The North Sumatra Basin extends into regions with existing commercial discoveries, enhancing investment attractiveness. This initiative aims to bolster domestic energy supplies and meet increasing demand for oil and natural gas through deepwater development.
