Three Women Rescued After 105 Days of Kidnapping in Kwara State
Three female worshippers from the ECWA Church in Omugo, Kwara State, were rescued after 105 days in captivity. Their abduction on March 22 resulted in the loss of five other worshippers, highlighting ongoing security challenges in the region.

On July 6, 2026, a joint security operation involving the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services, Nigeria Police Force, and vigilantes led to the rescue of three women kidnapped from the ECWA Church in Omugo, Kwara State, 105 days earlier. The initial abduction occurred on March 22, when eight congregants were taken during a service.
Tragically, five abductees, including the wife of the church minister, died in captivity. Despite community efforts raising approximately N20 million and negotiating ransom, the victims were not released alive.
The Omugo Development Union confirmed the rescue and expressed mixed emotions regarding the loss and the reunion of the survivors with their families. Security measures have been promised to ensure community safety and encourage the return of residents who fled due to insecurity.
