Thrift Energy Group has transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), becoming one of the largest employee-owned businesses in the UK retrofit sector. Founder Derek Campbell steps down to Non-Executive Chairman, while Directors Rob Browne and Josh Raffo will continue to lead the company.
This transition follows significant investment in personnel, raising the workforce to 116 employees, primarily at its Gateshead headquarters. The move aligns with the UK Government's £15 billion Warm Homes Plan aimed at reducing fuel poverty and increasing solar energy use.
Thrift Energy Group has facilitated over £96 million in government funding for renovations and is launching the Thrift Energy Group Academy to support employee qualifications. The Academy seeks to enhance skills for roles such as retrofit assessors and project managers, addressing the need for 180,000 additional professionals for the Warm Homes Plan.
