TIER IV Selected for ATLA Study on Autonomous Driving for Japan Self-Defense Forces
TIER IV has been chosen for an ATLA study to explore autonomous vehicle applications for Japan Self-Defense Forces facilities, addressing personnel shortages through automation. The study will evaluate the use of autonomous vehicles, including tow trucks, at Maritime Self-Defense Force air bases to enhance operational efficiency. TIER IV specializes in open-source autonomous driving technologies through its Autoware platform, with previous deployments in various vehicle sectors.

TIER IV has been selected for a study by Japan's Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Agency (ATLA) to explore the application of autonomous vehicles at Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) facilities. This initiative aims to mitigate personnel shortages resulting from Japan's aging population and increasing workload at air bases.
The feasibility study will focus on deploying autonomous vehicles, such as tow trucks, to improve efficiency at Maritime Self-Defense Force air bases. TIER IV's Autoware platform supports a range of autonomous applications, enhancing safety and sustainability in defense-related operations.
