TKMS and ST Engineering Sign MoU for Joint Submarine Maintenance Center in Singapore
TKMS and ST Engineering have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint service and maintenance center in Singapore for submarines, enhancing operational readiness for the Republic of Singapore Navy and international users. This collaboration aligns with Singapore's efforts to strengthen its naval capabilities, including the procurement of Type 218SG submarines and the consideration of Boeing P-8 aircraft.

Germany's ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) and Singapore's ST Engineering signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on March 24, 2026, to create a joint submarine maintenance center in Singapore. This initiative aims to support the operational readiness of Singapore's Type 218SG submarines and those operated by allied nations.
The partnership was highlighted during a visit by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who emphasized Singapore's role as a key ally in the Asia-Pacific. Singapore has acquired six Type 218SG submarines and is considering Boeing P-8 maritime surveillance aircraft, further enhancing its military capabilities. The collaboration is expected to strengthen defense ties between Germany and Singapore.
