Toyota is enhancing its zero-emission strategy in India, launching the Urban Cruiser EBella electric vehicle while emphasizing hydrogen's potential, particularly in heavy commercial applications. The company anticipates a phased development of the hydrogen ecosystem, with a focus on Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles as technology advances. Toyota continues to support a diverse powertrain mix, including hybrids and conventional fuels, while advocating for a carbon-based taxation policy to promote cleaner technologies.

The company believes hydrogen vehicles could be adopted more rapidly than expected, particularly in sectors like long-haul trucking and large buses.
Initial market offerings will include modified internal combustion engines and early Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles. As local green hydrogen supply chains develop, Fuel Cell vehicles will gain traction. Toyota maintains a diverse powertrain approach, continuing to sell hybrids alongside electric vehicles, while advocating for a carbon-based taxation system to encourage cleaner technologies. Local manufacturing efforts are ongoing, with over 90 percent localization in key models.
