Toyota Unveils Hydrogen Fuel Cell Truck Initiative at Parts Centre Europe in Belgium

Toyota is transitioning from diesel to hydrogen fuel cell trucks in its logistics operations to support carbon neutrality. The company presented its hydrogen mobility roadmap at the Toyota Parts Centre Europe in Diest, Belgium, showcasing insights from four fuel cell trucks that have been operational since May 2025.

These trucks have covered over 80,000 km across routes in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Germany, utilizing nine hydrogen refueling stations and achieving a driving range of over 400 km. The initiative has prevented over 80,000 kg of CO₂ emissions compared to diesel trucks.

Toyota is testing its third-generation fuel cell stack for heavy-duty applications and has partnered with VDL Special Vehicles to advance hydrogen fuel cell technology in logistics. Future plans include enhancing truck performance, increasing tank pressure to 700 bar, and reducing refueling time.
