TransGard achieved the milestone of installing its 5,000th animal-deterrent substation fence, emphasizing the need for protection against wildlife-related outages in utilities. The patented fencing solution addresses significant operational costs incurred from animal intrusions.

TransGard has installed its 5,000th animal-deterrent substation fence, a significant achievement in late 2025. The patented fence delivers a mild electric shock, deterring animals and preventing outages that cost utilities millions in repairs and labor.
The fencing system features design flexibility, with removable panels for vehicle access, and is capable of withstanding wind forces of up to 14,000 lbs. TransGard offers a 10-year warranty on all installations.
With many U.S. substations remaining unprotected, demand for these solutions is anticipated to rise. Additionally, TransGard's Laser Bird Defense solution is gaining traction due to safety concerns related to bird incursions.
