Transition Industries' $3.3Bn Pacifico Mexinol Methanol Project in Mexico Receives Approval for Construction
Transition Industries has received approval to commence construction on the $3.3 billion Pacifico Mexinol project in Sinaloa, Mexico. The facility is designed to produce 1.8 million tonnes of blue methanol and 350,000 tonnes of green methanol annually, supported by a long-term natural gas supply contract with CFENergía. Japan's Mitsubishi Gas Chemical will purchase approximately 50% of the output, contributing to low-carbon initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.

Transition Industries has secured the final commercial milestone for its $3.3 billion Pacifico Mexinol methanol project in Sinaloa, Mexico, allowing construction to begin. The facility will produce up to 1.8 million tonnes of blue methanol and 350,000 tonnes of green methanol annually, using 160 million cubic feet per day of US natural gas supplied by CFENergía.
Operations are expected to start between late 2029 and early 2030. Mitsubishi Gas Chemical has committed to purchasing about 50% of the output, marking its first large-scale procurement of ultra-low carbon methanol. The project aims to address clean fuel demand across the Pacific.
