Travis Air Force Base Fuel Supply Unaffected by Valero Refinery Closure in Benicia
The closure of the Valero refinery in Benicia will not affect the fuel supply for Travis Air Force Base, which is secured through a contract with Chevron. The base's jet fuel needs are currently met by Chevron's Richmond facility, which supplies jet fuel to Travis. DLA Energy has confirmed that there will be no immediate operational impacts due to the closure.

The Valero refinery's upcoming closure in Benicia will not impact the fuel supply for Travis Air Force Base. Travis's jet fuel needs are fulfilled by a contract with Chevron, which supplies fuel from its Richmond facility to the base via the Kinder Morgan Bulk Storage Station.
This arrangement has been in place since the 2021-22 fiscal year, with the base receiving 44.487 million gallons for the 2024-25 fiscal year. Although Valero previously supplied fuel to the base, Chevron has taken over the contract. DLA Energy noted that while reduced competition may affect future fuel pricing, it does not foresee any immediate operational issues.
