Trentino Launches Underground Data Center in Dolomite Mine
The Trentino Data Mine project transforms a dolomite mine into a data center with a €37 million investment. It focuses on renewable energy use and enhanced data security.

The Trentino Data Mine project involves converting an active dolomite mine into a data center, underpinned by a €37 million initial investment. The facility will utilize a supercomputer from HP Enterprise, featuring 150 kW power and 56 GPUs, and will operate on 100% renewable energy sourced from a nearby hydroelectric plant, leading to a 40% reduction in energy costs.
The first phase includes two tunnels, each measuring 170 meters, with plans for increased storage capacity. Project completion is anticipated in June 2026, enhancing local digital infrastructure and promoting data sovereignty and security for sensitive information. This development may position Trentino as a leader in sustainable data management.
