Tripartite Meeting on BTR Accord Implementation Held by Indian and Assam Governments
A tripartite review meeting on the BTR accord was held, chaired by Joint Secretary Neeraj Kumar Bansod, with participation from the Indian and Assam governments, BTC authority, and various organizations. ABSU President Dipen Boro highlighted urgent issues such as timely implementation of the accord, amendments for greater BTC autonomy, and recruitment opportunities in the Army and police, warning of potential mass movements if progress is not made. The meeting emphasized the need for addressing these concerns, given that six years have passed since the accord's signing.

A tripartite review meeting on the BTR accord was conducted on Thursday, chaired by Neeraj Kumar Bansod, Joint Secretary, North East, Ministry of Home Affairs. Participants included the Government of India, Government of Assam, BTC authority, ABSU, UBPO, and Ex-NDFB Welfare Association via video conference.
Key issues raised by ABSU President Dipen Boro included the need for timely implementation of the accord, amendments to the Sixth Schedule for greater BTC autonomy, inclusion of additional villages, status upgrades for BKWAC, and recruitment opportunities in the Army and police. Boro emphasized the urgency of these issues, stating that six years have passed since the accord's signing, and warned of potential mass movements if delays continue.
Assam government officials included Mukesh Chandra Sahu and SN Choudhury, while BTC representatives included Deputy Chief Rihon Daimary. Various leaders from ABSU, UBPO, and Ex-NDFB Welfare Association attended.
