Türkiye to Launch First TF-2000 Air Defense Destroyer by 2027
Türkiye's first TF-2000 air defense destroyer is scheduled for launch by the end of 2027, enhancing the Turkish Naval Forces' capability to counter long-range aerial threats. The project includes the completion of steel cutting and hull block placement planned for March 2026.
The destroyer will have a length of 149 meters, a beam of 21.3 meters, and a draft of 5.75 meters, with a displacement of about 8,300 tons. The TF-2000 will feature a 96-cell vertical launch system for various missiles, including Siper and Hisar systems. It is designed for extended operations in the Aegean Sea and Eastern Mediterranean, and part of a wider modernization effort alongside an aircraft carrier and new submarines.
