Türkiye to Receive First Eurofighter Typhoons from Qatar by February 2026
Türkiye is set to receive its first Eurofighter Typhoons from Qatar by late February 2026. This follows the procurement of 12 second-hand jets from Qatar's existing fleet, part of Türkiye's strategy to enhance its air combat capabilities.
The agreement was finalized after trilateral talks in Doha involving defense officials from Türkiye, Qatar, and the UK. Turkish pilots have begun training on the aircraft, with deliveries expected to start once negotiations are concluded.
Additionally, Türkiye has a separate £8 billion agreement with the UK for 20 newly built Typhoons, aiming for a total of 44 Typhoons, including both new and second-hand acquisitions. The mixed fleet will require management of different configurations, with Qatar's Typhoons featuring advanced radar systems. The acquisition is crucial for Türkiye's defense strategy, especially following its exclusion from the F-35 program.
