The BATU engine for Türkiye's Altay battle tank has completed its factory acceptance tests, according to the Turkish Defense Industries Secretary. The 1,500 horsepower engine, developed by BMC POWER using domestic resources, showcases Türkiye's advancements in land vehicle engine technology.
The development process, initiated in 2018, overcame initial engineering and supply chain challenges. The BATU engine meets high mobility requirements with low fuel consumption and long lifespan, suitable for various climatic conditions.
