Trossingen Stadtwerke Pursue Three Sustainable Energy Projects Instead of Wind Turbines
Trossingen Stadtwerke is shifting its focus from wind energy to three sustainable projects: decarbonizing the district heating network with locally sourced wood chips by 2045, developing battery storage systems with a capacity of 3-5 megawatts, and implementing a prosumer model to connect local renewable energy producers with consumers. A new heating facility is planned for 2028/29, although it will not serve the entire city. The company is also addressing regulatory and data needs for these initiatives.

Trossingen Stadtwerke is pursuing three sustainable energy projects to replace wind energy initiatives. The first project focuses on decarbonizing the district heating network by eliminating fossil fuels by 2045, using wood chips sourced locally.
A heating facility is planned for 2028/29, although not all of Trossingen will be served. The second project involves battery storage systems, aiming for 3-5 megawatts capacity per unit, with site selection ongoing.
The third project is a prosumer model to connect local renewable energy producers with consumers, enhancing regional energy consumption. Stadtwerke is developing this product and addressing necessary data and regulatory considerations.
