Trump Nominates Lt. Gen. Roger Turner for Marine Corps Forces Pacific Command
President Trump has nominated Lt. Gen. Roger Turner to lead Marine Corps Forces Pacific, overseeing over 80,000 Marines. This leadership change, pending Senate confirmation, continues the strategic shift towards mobile units in the Indo-Pacific region.

Lt. Gen. Roger Turner has been nominated to command Marine Corps Forces Pacific and Fleet Marine Force Pacific, based at Camp H.M.
Smith, Hawaii. He would succeed Lt. Gen.
James Glynn, who has held the position since September 2024. The command includes about 80,000 Marines, two-thirds of the active-duty Corps, and two of its three expeditionary forces. Under Glynn, the command implemented a Force Design overhaul focusing on smaller, mobile units and new weapon systems.
Turner has led III Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Forces Japan since January 2024, overseeing the development of the 12th Marine Littoral Regiment. The shift in leadership aligns with the Corps' strategy for operations in contested maritime environments.
