Turkey and Germany Discuss NATO Cooperation and Eurofighter Procurement
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and Turkish counterpart Yaşar Güler met in Berlin to discuss NATO cooperation and arms procurement, highlighting Turkey's significance in European security ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara. Germany expressed support for Turkey's request to join the European Sky Shield Initiative, while Turkey confirmed a contract with the UK for 20 Eurofighter jets and plans to acquire additional units from Qatar and Oman.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius met Turkish counterpart Yaşar Güler in Berlin to discuss NATO developments and bilateral cooperation in arms procurement. They emphasized Turkey's role in European security and preparations for the NATO summit in Ankara on July 7-8.
Germany supports Turkey's request to join the European Sky Shield Initiative for joint defense systems procurement. Turkey signed a contract with the UK for 20 Eurofighter jets, with BAE Systems as the primary contractor. Turkey plans to acquire additional Eurofighters from Qatar and Oman, with talks scheduled for January 18-19.
