Turkey and Malaysia Strengthen Strategic Cooperation with High-Level Council and Agreements
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim launched the Malaysia-Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in Ankara, aiming to enhance bilateral relations across various sectors including defense, trade, and education. Key agreements included a memorandum on ICT and a contract for a multi-purpose mission vessel, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of economic ties and mutual investments. They reaffirmed their commitment to multilateral cooperation through platforms like the UN and OIC, while addressing global issues such as the situation in Gaza.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim inaugurated the Malaysia-Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) in Ankara, enhancing bilateral relations. The summit, stemming from agreements made during Erdogan's February 2025 visit to Kuala Lumpur, focused on defense, trade, investment, education, culture, and tourism.
Key agreements included a memorandum on ICT and a contract for a multi-purpose mission vessel connecting Turkish shipyard DESAN with Malaysia's Home Affairs Ministry. Both leaders emphasized economic ties, mutual investments, and boosting bilateral trade, with Erdogan acknowledging Malaysia's role in ASEAN and its alignment with Türkiye's Asia Anew Initiative.
Anwar, awarded Türkiye's Order of the Republic, highlighted Türkiye's technological capabilities and the shared focus on global issues, including the situation in Gaza. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to multilateral platforms such as the UN and OIC.
