Turkey's defense and aerospace exports increased by 37.5% in 2022, totaling $4.4 billion, up from $3.2 billion in 2021, according to SASAD. The report, released on July 13, indicated that the sector's revenue reached $12.2 billion, a 20% rise compared to the previous year.
Key drivers of this growth include demand for land systems and drones, alongside a significant increase in research-and-development investments, which rose to $2.1 billion in 2022, marking a 26% annual increase. The Turkish defense procurement agency has set an export target of $6 billion for 2023, anticipating further growth as indigenous programs move toward serial production.
