Turkey's Hürjet Aircraft Completes Cold Weather Tests Ahead of Production
Turkey's indigenous Hürjet aircraft has successfully completed cold-weather tests in Erzurum, a crucial milestone ahead of its serial production. Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries, the aircraft demonstrated effective high-altitude performance and operational efficiency in extreme conditions. With deliveries to the Turkish Air Force's aerobatic team slated for 2026, Spain has also approved the procurement of 45 Hürjet aircraft, expected to enter service by 2029-2030.

Turkey's indigenous jet aircraft Hürjet has completed cold-weather tests in Erzurum, marking a significant step towards serial production and operational capability. Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), two HÜRJET prototypes underwent testing in severe conditions, with temperatures reaching minus 21 degrees Celsius.
The trials confirmed the aircraft's high-altitude performance and the efficiency of its engine and avionics systems in extreme weather. TUSAŞ has conducted nearly 400 sorties in Hürjet's development program.
The aircraft is set for delivery to the Turkish Air Force's aerobatic team in 2026. Spain has approved the procurement of 45 Hürjet aircraft, with deliveries starting in 2028 and the first entering service in the 2029-2030 training cycle. The fleet is expected to remain operational for at least 30 years.
