Turkiye and Saudi Arabia Plan Railway Link to Jordan and Syria
Turkiye and Saudi Arabia are set to develop a railway connecting their nations to Jordan and Syria within three to four years. The initiative aims to enhance trade routes and alleviate supply chain disruptions linked to regional conflicts.

Turkiye and Saudi Arabia plan to construct a railway linking the two countries with Jordan and Syria, targeting completion in three to four years. The project, outlined in a recent memorandum of understanding, aims to facilitate the transport of goods, oil, natural gas, and people, with involvement from additional Gulf nations like the UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar.
Existing connections from Saudi Arabia to Jordan and from Turkiye to Gaziantep are nearly complete, leaving a 400 km gap to address. The initiative may also support the annual hajj pilgrimage. An estimated $100 million investment is earmarked for revamping the route to Syria's Aleppo, establishing a direct connection to Damascus. This railway could impact regional trade dynamics and geopolitical relations significantly.
