Tyvak International Signs Contract for ESA's RAMSES Mission to Study Asteroid Apophis
Tyvak International has signed a contract with ESA for the development of 'Farinella', a 6U CubeSat for the RAMSES mission. This mission aims to study the asteroid Apophis during its close approach to Earth on April 13, 2029. The satellite will be equipped with instruments to gather scientific data, contributing to planetary defense strategies. The project follows the completion of the Critical Design Review in January 2026, with a launch targeted for 2028.

Tyvak International has secured a contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) for 'Farinella', the first 6U CubeSat of the RAMSES mission, focused on the asteroid Apophis. Supported by the Italian Space Agency, the mission will study Apophis during its flyby on April 13, 2029.
Following the Critical Design Review in January 2026, Tyvak will enter the implementation phase ahead of the planned 2028 launch. The CubeSat will utilize a low-frequency radar to analyze the asteroid's subsurface, and will include optical instruments for navigation and dust detection. The project aims to enhance scientific understanding and improve planetary defense techniques.
