DEFENSE

Vadym, a UAV operator with the 155th Brigade, recounts his 80-day encirclement in Pokrovsk amid escalating enemy forces. During their withdrawal, a soldier was severely injured by a mine and was transported to safety using a construction cart.

Vadym emphasizes the harsh realities of prolonged frontline positions, noting the difficulties faced by infantry units in receiving reinforcements. Since joining the Territorial Defense Forces on February 24, 2022, and later the Armed Forces, he has participated in various operations, including training in the Czech Republic and combat in the Zaporizhzhia direction.

His unit faced heavy fire during assaults and endured severe conditions, including shortages of supplies. Vadym describes moments of personal and collective struggle but remains committed to serving until victory is achieved for Ukraine. He expresses a desire to return to civilian life after the war, reflecting on the impact of war on family and the longing for peace.
