Uganda to Launch National AI and Emerging Tech Strategy by June 2026
Uganda aims to finalize its National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies by June 2026. This initiative seeks to enhance governance and economic growth, targeting a $500 billion economy by 2040 through technology integration.

The Ugandan government plans to unveil its National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies by June 2026, with an aim to implement tech-driven governance and economic growth. This strategy is a key component of the National Development Plan IV and seeks to integrate AI, blockchain, and robotics to address national challenges.
A partnership with the UN Health Industry Foundation aims to create 50,000 tech jobs in five years and provide scholarships for advanced studies in AI for 300 students. The strategy will include a chapter on ethics and governance, aligning with the Data Protection and Privacy Act of 2019 to protect citizens' rights. The Ministry will conduct consultative meetings to ensure adaptability to technological changes, positioning Uganda as a competitive tech investment destination in Africa.
