UGI Utilities Seeks 9% Increase in Natural Gas Rates for Pennsylvania Customers
UGI Utilities has submitted a request to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) to raise its natural gas base rates, resulting in nearly a 9% increase in monthly bills for residential customers. The proposed increase of $99.4 million annually would fund UGI's $468 million investment in system upgrades and ensure reliable gas service.
If approved, a residential customer using 68.7 ccf of gas monthly would see their bill rise from $113.64 to $123.55, an 8.7% increase. Commercial and industrial customers would face increases of 6.4% and 6.3%, respectively.
The request affects only the delivery charge, and the new rates are proposed to take effect on March 29, 2026, though PUC investigations may delay implementation until October 2026. UGI also plans to contribute $1 million annually to its Operation Share Energy Fund to assist low-income customers with heating bills.
