UK Awards GBP 53 Million Contract for 37 Remote Controlled Howitzers
The UK has awarded a GBP 53 million contract to ARTEC GmbH for 37 Remote Controlled Howitzer (RCH) 155 systems. This project, part of the British Army's modernisation effort, will replace the AS90 self-propelled gun. The contract also includes significant investment in Rheinmetall's gun barrel facility in Telford, creating approximately 100 jobs and enhancing UK artillery production capabilities.

The UK has awarded a GBP 53 million contract to ARTEC GmbH for the production of 37 Remote Controlled Howitzer (RCH) 155 systems, part of the British Army's Mobile Fires Platform (MFP) to replace the AS90 self-propelled gun. The contract covers key elements including the barrel and recoil system.
It also includes GBP 30 million investment in Rheinmetall's manufacturing facility in Telford, expected to create around 100 jobs. The RCH 155 can fire eight rounds per minute and reach targets up to 70 kilometers away, enhancing artillery capabilities following the transfer of AS90 systems to Ukraine.
