UK Defense Chief Acknowledges £28 Billion Shortfall in Defense Investment Plan
The UK's Chief of Defense Staff, Air Chief Marshal Richard Knighton, revealed a £28 billion shortfall in the Defense Investment Plan (DIP), delaying its expected release until after 2025 and raising concerns about military readiness. He emphasized that the Defense Ministry cannot meet all government commitments within the current budget, necessitating trade-offs as the government aims to increase defense spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027 and 3.5% by 2035 amidst ongoing economic pressures.
