UK Ministry of Defence Awards QinetiQ £205 Million Contract for RAF Typhoon Support
The UK Ministry of Defence has awarded QinetiQ a £205 million contract to provide technical and engineering support for the RAF's Typhoon fighter jet fleet over five years. This investment is expected to secure 250 skilled jobs across the UK, particularly in Lancashire, Lincolnshire, and Hampshire.
The contract will deliver essential support for aircraft maintenance and upgrades, including the European Common Radar System (ECRS) Mk2, enhancing the Typhoon's operational capabilities. The Typhoon fleet plays a critical role in UK and NATO defense, conducting missions worldwide and recently supporting NATO operations in Eastern Europe.
This contract follows a previous £8 billion deal for 20 Typhoons sold to Türkiye, which generated an additional 20,000 jobs in the UK. The UK government plans to increase defense spending to 2.6% of GDP by 2027.
