UK National Railway Tests Quantum Navigation Technology with MoniRail Consortium
The UK national railway is conducting the world's first tests of quantum navigation technology, led by MoniRail. This initiative is supported by Innovate UK and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. The trial builds on previous work by the UK's Ministry of Defense and involves partners such as Imperial College London, University of Sussex, National Physical Laboratory, PA Consulting, and QinetiQ. GBRX is coordinating the effort to implement new rail technologies to enhance reliability and operational capabilities.

The UK national railway is the first globally to trial quantum navigation technology, spearheaded by a consortium led by MoniRail. This initiative includes partnerships with Imperial College London, University of Sussex, National Physical Laboratory, PA Consulting, and QinetiQ, and is supported by Innovate UK and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
The trials aim to enhance railway reliability and operational capabilities, building on previous research by the UK's Ministry of Defense. GBRX is managing the deployment of these new technologies within live rail networks, emphasizing the importance of testing in complex operational environments.
