UK Signs £3.5 Billion Defence Industrial Support Treaty for Ukraine Military Aid in 2025
The UK has reaffirmed its £3 billion annual military aid commitment to Ukraine, signing a Defence Industrial Support Treaty that enables £3.5 billion in loans for procurement from UK industry. Key agreements include a £1.6 billion contract with Thales UK for 5,000 lightweight multirole missiles, enhancing production capacity and job support in the UK.
The MOD awarded a £61 million contract to BAE Systems for artillery barrels and delivered £150 million of air defence and artillery ammunition to Ukraine in two months. The UK aims to supply 100,000 drones by 2025, with a £350 million investment this year.
Additional contracts include £14 million for repair of Archer artillery systems and £39 million for over 1,000 counter-drone systems. The UK has also committed to providing naval support and has recorded over £20 billion in defence exports this year, highlighting significant procurement and export growth in the defence sector.
