Ukraine has confiscated 1,592 freight wagons from Russian companies, transferring management to the State Property Fund. The wagons, valued at approximately UAH 2.2 billion, will be used by Ukrzaliznytsia JSC for freight transport.

These assets were previously utilized by Russia for transport within Ukraine and the EU before the invasion in 2022. The wagons belong to sanctioned entities, including VEB-Leasing and other Russian finance and logistics companies. The confiscation was formalized by a decision from the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and a presidential decree.
