Ukraine Enhances Air Defense Against Shahed Drones Amid Ongoing Conflict
Ukraine aims to neutralize 95% of incoming Shahed drones, with interception rates improving to 90%. Strengthening air defense is crucial as Russia deploys thousands of these drones monthly, threatening military and civilian infrastructure.

Ukraine's Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has set a goal to neutralize 95% of incoming Shahed drones, with interception rates reportedly improving to 90%. The Shahed drones, modified from the Iranian Geran design, pose a significant threat, with Russia producing thousands monthly.
Despite Ukraine's efforts, over 1,000 Shaheds have caused substantial damage. Ukrainian forces face challenges in tracking these drones, often relying on adverse weather and limited visibility. To improve defense capabilities, Ukraine is developing automated guidance systems and enhancing its multi-layered defense.
Additionally, there is a pressing need for high-speed radio modems to support control of unmanned systems. Effective communication is vital as Russia employs advanced technology, complicating interception efforts. The development of domestic communication infrastructure is critical for resilient drone operations.
