Ukraine Initiates Army Reform to Enhance Pay and Contractual Framework
Ukraine's military reform aims to boost salaries and strengthen the contract system, starting in June. The initiative is critical for improving personnel retention and operational effectiveness amid ongoing conflicts.

Ukraine plans to implement an army reform beginning in June 2023, focusing on increasing wages for military personnel and enhancing the contract system. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that the initial outcomes of this reform, especially concerning financial support for soldiers, sergeants, and commanders, are expected within the same month.
The reform may also involve a phased discharge of long-serving military members, which could impact personnel dynamics and operational readiness in the Defence Forces of Ukraine. The effectiveness of these changes will be crucial in maintaining troop morale and capability in the context of ongoing military engagements.
