Ukraine Integrates International Defense Legions into Ground Forces for Enhanced Combat Effectiveness
The International Defense Legions of Ukraine are being integrated into the Ground Forces to improve their operational capabilities and battlefield protection. This integration allows access to advanced weaponry and support systems while maintaining existing combat missions for personnel. The process, initiated in December 2025, aims to enhance the effectiveness of foreign units within the Ukrainian military framework.

Ukraine's International Defense Legions are being integrated into the Ground Forces, enhancing their capability with improved weapons and military equipment. This change provides access to unmanned systems, artillery, and aerial reconnaissance without diminishing the legions' operational status.
Personnel will continue their missions in the same regions but with greater support and opportunities for retraining as needed. As of December 2025, four international battalions are part of this plan, with one serving as a training center for foreign recruits. The integration is intended to strengthen combat resilience and allow foreign volunteers to recruit new members.
