Ukraine Launches Student Contest for FPV Drone Payload Development with EU Support
Ukraine's Brave1 defense innovation cluster has initiated a national competition for students to create a payload for FPV drones that enables perching while on standby. The initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science, is part of the 'Brave Students' track, supported by the EU4UA Defence Tech program. Project submissions are due mid-February, with winners receiving a prize fund of 90,000 hryvnias. Separately, the EU plans to accelerate drone production and establish counter-drone research initiatives.

Ukraine's Brave1 defense innovation cluster has opened a national contest for students to develop a payload for tactical FPV drones that allows for perching while in low-power mode. The initiative, titled 'Drone With Paws,' is supported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science.
Submissions are accepted until mid-February, with team selections for prototype development announced shortly thereafter. Winners will receive a prize fund of 90,000 hryvnias. The project is part of the EU4UA Defence Tech program, a 3.3-million euro initiative to enhance Ukrainian military innovations. Additionally, the EU aims to accelerate its drone alliance with Ukraine and establish a center for counter-drone research by early 2027.
